The City of Bondurant jumped on an opportunity five years ago to grow its recreational space on the north side of Lake Petocka when the City invested in 24-acres adjacent to the Bondurant Recreation Sports Complex (BRSC). The land purchase was the first step. The City then collaborated with representatives from the Bondurant Soccer Club and the Bondurant Little League to create a layout for the additional park space. The Council approved the layout in September 2017 and contracted for grading and seeding in 2018. The City approved the irrigation for the soccer fields in 2020, and volunteers from the Bondurant Soccer Club have been taking care of the fields through a lease agreement with the City.

In September 2021, after four years of planning, building, and turf management, the collaboration between the City and the Bondurant Soccer Club culminated in the opening of the 5 full-sized fields that can accommodate U13+ soccer teams at the Bondurant Recreational Sports Complex.

The pre-existing Bondurant Soccer Complex is located on the west edge of Bondurant, and the new soccer fields at the Bondurant Recreational Sports Complex are located on the east edge of Bondurant. Concern over confusion of the similarity in the complex names created an opportunity to recognize and honor local community members.  For many years, Pat and Marian Collison offered their land to the Bondurant Soccer Club for a nominal fee, which allowed many years of youth soccer programming for the community’s youth.  Additionally, Marian Collison has volunteered on the City of Bondurant Parks and Recreation Board for 8 years and Pat Collison has been a treasured member of the City’s Public Works team, serving Bondurant residents for nearly three decades.

In honor of Pat and Marian Collison, the City Council changed the name of the Bondurant Soccer Complex to Collison Soccer Park in June 2022. By renaming the soccer complex to Collison Soccer Park, the Mayor and City Council recognize and honor the many years of service the Collison Family has offered the Bondurant Community.
