Tuition for Wyoming residents attending Northern Wyoming Community College District rose by 5.2% in the 2022-23 academic year, as revealed in the latest report, according to the latest disclosure from the National Center for Education Statistics.

Residents of Wyoming paid $4,830 to enroll at the two-year public college this year, marking a $240 increase from the $4,590 tuition fee charged in the 2021-22 academic year.

Non-resident students faced tuition costs 130.4% higher than those for residents in the 2022-23 academic year, amounting to $11,130. This represents a 2.2% increase from the $10,890 tuition charged in 2021-22.

Approximately 84% of the undergraduate student body at the institution are Wyoming residents, while the remaining 16% come from other states.

Data indicates that 91% of full-time undergraduates who enrolled at Northern Wyoming Community College District in 2022-23 received some form of student financial aid. Specifically, 383 students were awarded grants or scholarships totaling $2.4 million, and 93 students obtained student loans exceeding $416,889.

Among all undergraduate students, 1,241 received grants or scholarships amounting to $7.2 million. Additionally, 425 students secured $2.2 million in federal student loans.

Undergraduate education costs have seen a significant increase over the past few decades. Data shows a 169% rise in the average total cost, including tuition, fees, room, and board, between 1980 and 2020.

According to a 2023 College Board report, in-state students at public universities paid an average of $11,260, while out-of-state students paid $29,150 in the 2023-24 academic year.

Meanwhile, student loan debt has steadily increased over the last 30 years, reaching $1.75 trillion in 2024, averaging a total of $28,950 per borrower. Federal loans make up 92% of the debt, with over half of students at both public and private four-year colleges graduating with student loans.
