GILLETTE, Wyo. – Feb. 9, 2023 – Dr. Ryan Black, DO, will begin seeing patients at Campbell County Medical Group’s new Ear, Nose, and Throat Clinic on March 6, 2023. Dr. Black brings 14 years of much-needed ENT experience to the Campbell County area. Hailing from Yakima, Washington, Dr. Black specifically sought out small communities where he could begin the next chapter of his practice.

“My wife and I love small towns,” said Dr. Black. “We specifically did not look at any big cities; the lifestyle is so much better in small towns. When we first visited Gillette, we fell in love with it.”

Coming from a family of engineers, Dr. Black initially thought he would pursue a similar path and become an engineer. However, Dr. Black felt there was a crucial element missing that he needed to have in his career – the opportunity to build personal connections with people.

“I really needed that personal connection with people. To this day, working with people, earning their trust, and helping them is what motivates me. My patients are the drive that keeps me going.”

Dr. Black attended medical school at the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency at Oklahoma State University Medical Center. Dr. Black is a Fellow of the American Osteopathic College of Otolaryngology Ophthalmology (FAOCOO) and is board certified in otolaryngology and facial plastic surgery.

“The anatomy of the head and neck is complex and challenging, but I love the challenge. The challenge and the variety of patients you see drew me to ear, nose, and throat as a specialty. Young patients, older patients, ear infections, sinus infections, you get to see and help with it all.”

During medical school, Dr. Black had five children in the span of only four years, which kept him busy when not at work. Dr. Black and his family still found time for fun and relaxation with pastimes such as Alpine skiing. Now an empty nester, Dr. Black has been exploring new hobbies such as gardening, remote control airplanes, and volunteering.

“I’ve been volunteering in Vietnam over the past six months, teaching medical English to physicians and medical students. Volunteering and helping others – that’s what really brings me joy in life.”

Campbell County Health is honored to have Dr. Black join CCMG and offer ENT services to the community. The CCMG ENT Clinic will be located at 407 S. Medical Arts Court, Suite F, Gillette, WY 82716. New patients are being accepted, and you can reach the clinic at (307)688-0110.
