Randol Mill Road Near Texas Health Arlington Memorial to be Closed This Weekend for Pedestrian Bridge Removal

Texas Health Arlington Memorial’s longstanding pedestrian bridge, which has been used by some hospital employees for crossing West Randol Mill Road from an employee parking lot, is in need of costly repairs.

With ample space available in the hospital’s five-story parking garage for the employees to park, hospital leaders decided to instead close the employee parking lot and have the pedestrian bridge removed.“While the pedestrian bridge has been a common sight for more than 40 years for travelers on W. Randol Mill Road, the need for it had simply diminished with the expansion of our hospital campus and other closer, alternative parking options,” said Blake Kretz, president of Texas Health Arlington Memorial. “Its removal will have no impact on our patients or their families.”The employee parking lot was closed Monday, Nov. 14. The dismantling of the pedestrian bridge will take place Saturday, Nov. 19, requiring the closure of that part of Randol Mill Road for 24 hours – from 6 a.m. Nov. 19 until 6 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 20.

To continue eastbound on Randol Mill Road after Fielder Road drivers have options to:

  • drive north on Davis Drive, east on Road to Six Flags Street, south on Copper Street, and then back to eastbound Randol Mill; or
  •  drive south on Davis Drive, east on Division Street, north on Cooper Street and then back to eastbound Randol Mill

To continue westbound on Randol Mill Road from Cooper Street drivers have options to:

  • drive north on Cooper Street, west on Road to Six Flags Street, south on Davis Drive, and then back to westbound Randol Mill Road; or
  •  drive south on Cooper Street, west on Division Street, north on Davis Drive, and then back to westbound Randol Mill Road

For hospital or Emergency Department access, drivers have these options:

  •  If anyone is northbound or southbound on Cooper Street, the Emergency Department is accessed by using Fuller Street to Scott Drive to Wright Street to Waldrop Drive.
  •  If anyone is westbound on Randol Mill Road, their route will be to turn south on Cooper Street headed towards Fuller Street and then use the same route Fuller Street to Scott Drive to Wright Street to Waldrop Drive.
  •  If anyone is eastbound on Randol Mill, their route will be as normal with the exception that the roadway will be narrowed down to one lane hospital access.
