2022 Sheridan County Emergency Operations Plan Update

Board1

Sheridan County is updating the plan to organize our government, private sector, non-governmental organizations, and the community during disaster response.

What is an Emergency Operations Plan?

The Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) organizes community-wide response by coordinating resources, staff, equipment, and decision-making structures that may be needed for any type of natural disaster, human-caused threat, or other emergency incident. The EOP is multi-jurisdictional, meaning it covers all the towns and unincorporated areas in Sheridan County.

The EOP facilitates Sheridan County’s response to major events like the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as more common incidents such as severe winter storms and wildfires, or even planned events that require resources and planning across the community like the Rodeo.

The EOP guides disaster response but is part of a broader cycle of emergency management. Emergency management in Sheridan County includes our strategies to prevent, protect against, mitigate, respond to, and recover from emergencies and disasters.

Public Involvement

Sheridan County Emergency Management will engage the whole community in this planning effort, including community organizations and residents. Interested community members are invited to join a Community Forum where the project team will provide updates on the planning process and get your feedback.

Sheridan County EOP Community Forum: Tuesday, June 28 from 5:30 – 7:00pm

Register for the meeting here to receive a virtual meeting link OR join us in-person at the Sheridan County Courthouse 2nd floor addition in the commissioner’s board room, 224 S. Main Street, Sheridan.

Project Timeline

Planning began in May 2022 and will continue through the end of the year. The EOP will be presented to the Sheridan County Commissioners in December 2022.
