Washington, DC – On April 26, 2023, Congresswoman Harriet Hageman voted in favor of H.R. 2811 – the Limit, Save, Grow Act. This legislation will save $3.6 Trillion over the next ten years, reduce federal government spending levels, and grow the American economy.
Hageman stated, “President Biden, aided by Democrats in Congress, has gone on a spending spree with your hard-earned money - trillions in new spending since January of 2021 authorized by the Nancy Pelosi led House of Representatives and Chuck Schumer led Senate. If that weren’t bad enough, executive orders issued by Joe Biden have cost American taxpayers over $1.5 TRILLION. Many of these executive orders have been devasting to our energy production, have cost jobs, and increased energy poverty in Wyoming and throughout the country.
“This bill is a major step towards restoring fiscal sanity, as well as reigning in the administrative state and setting us back on the trail to energy independence. It repeals “Green Bad Deal” tax credits, incorporates H.R. 1 – the Lower Energy Costs Act, and stops the executive branch from spending money without Congressional approval.
“Finally, the legislation cuts spending levels back to fiscal year 2022 levels. In exchange for all of this, the debt ceiling will be raised through March of 2024. Debt ceilings have traditionally been used as a negotiating tool to rein in spending and pass legislation that may otherwise be stalled. Our current debt ceiling situation should be no different and any effort by Joe Biden to force through a so-called “clean debt ceiling increase” with no spending cuts will be met with a NO vote by me.”
