Today, Mayor Byron W. Brown and Common Council President Darius G. Pridgen issued a reminder that the deadline for the second installment of the City property tax payments, and the assessment grievance period, is the close of business on Friday, January 13th. City officials had extended the deadline last month to assist property owners, who were hit hard by the blizzard and the ensuing drive ban. By extending these deadlines, property owners were given additional time to pay their taxes or prepare and file assessment grievances by the new deadlines without penalty.Mayor Brown said, “As City residents continue to recover following this historic storm, we did not want to penalize or add further difficulties to residents. This extension was important to allow our property owners additional time to take care of these business matters. I thank Common Council President Darius Pridgen and the members of the Common Council for patterning with me to help alleviate the pressure on City residents.” Council President Pridgen said, “Following the Blizzard of ‘22, we must explore all means to help our community heal and recover. City government helped by extending these deadlines to not put additional burdens on taxpayers during this difficult time. I appreciate my partners in government for their support in this critical measure.”Taxes can be paid in person at City Hall or online at www.buffalony.gov/pay. Property owners must ensure that their grievances to the Board of Assessment Review are received by the Friday, January 13th deadline. Residents should call (716) 851-5733 with any questions regarding the extensions of the second quarter tax bill and the extension of the assessment grievance period.
